Happiness For the Win as Tech9 Recognized Among America’s Fastest-Growing Companies

Tech9 lands on the Utah Business Fast 50 list and scores a spot on the Inc. 5000 for second year in a row.

LEHI, UTAHSeptember 27, 2021—Tech9 is proud to announce its placement on the Utah Business Fast 50 list as well as the Inc. 5000 list. Both lists acknowledge the immense growth Tech9 has experienced in the last year, growing by 335%. The company was awarded the 32nd spot on the Utah Business Fast 50 list and #1,413 on the Inc. 5000.

This exponential growth is largely due to Tech9’s unique approach to software development. It’s all about top-notch global talent, proven processes, and a focus on client-partner happiness in the software delivered and the journey to get there.

“We’re never satisfied with just getting by, and these recognitions are a testament to that,” says Nick Stice, CEO of Tech9. “We’re thrilled to receive them, but we’re even happier that our clients and employees are so satisfied with what we do that they’ve helped us achieve higher goals and higher ideals. We’re here to make everyone’s experience in tech a happier one!”

It might seem that a focus on getting results for clients would be standard in technology development, but Tech9 found that wasn’t the case and in 2015 decided to do something about it. Since then, they have grown across the globe, utilizing developers from multiple continents and countries. Despite this global structure, they have kept software quality high by keeping management close to home here in the USA.

The philosophy that holds them together and drives them forward is #TechHappily. This is a philosophy that working with software developers—or as one—should be an enjoyable experience rather than a dreaded rendezvous. Clients should be happy and so should employees.

They’ve held this philosophy despite escalating demands in the software development world. While other companies have faltered, Tech9 has grown—and done so without compromising its values or the results clients care about. This commitment to excellence is what has landed them on multiple growth lists this year, despite the 2021 lists being based on results from one of the hardest years on record due to the unique global circumstances. In fact, all of the companies within this year’s Utah Business Fast 50 and Inc. 5000 lists have shown tremendous resilience in the face of some of the greatest hardships in a decade.

“The 2021 Inc. 5000 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”

Whether it’s recognized through placement on lists like the Utah Business Fast 50 or the Inc. 5000, or just as a smile on a client’s face, Tech9 is happy to work with their #TechHappily family of clients and employees. And that happiness is bleeding into their results.

Inc. 5000 Methodology

The 2021 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2017 and 2020. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2020. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2017 is $100,000; the minimum for 2020 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at http://www.inc.com/inc5000

Utah Business Fast 50 Methodology

The Fast 50 list is ranked based on a combination of revenue growth and total revenue. They use growth only from the preceding year, namely 2020, though the companies must have done business for at least two years. The list was first revealed at the Utah Business Fast 50 event. The winners and their rankings are then featured in the September issue of Utah Business and online at https://www.utahbusiness.com/meet-the-2021-fastest-growing-companies-in-utah/
